With all the setting up done, I could proceed an start with my first very own WordPress – Plugin: Exifing. With everything I’ve written so far, probably nobody will every want to download it, but I still consider it far more powerfull than any other EXIF – plugin currently available (at least for my camera).

Unfortunately there is no PHP-based way to access all EXIF-tags in an image. I couldn’t believe it, but neither the exif_read_data – function nor the exif.php was anywhere near complete or up-to-date. So I had to look for another way to extract the EXIF-tags I wanted. Back in the days I wrote a Perl-script for my Gallery (based on the Image::ExifTool module), it’s natural that I went looking for some way to use my Perl-Code in PHP.

Seid Jahren habe ich ein altes TiBook, dessen Displayscharniere gebrochen waren. Ein erster Rettungsversuch scheiterte daran, dass mir spezieller Klebstoff fehlte (um nur die Scharniere auszuwechseln, muss man das Display an sich zerlegen). Jetzt ist Papa ein (fast) baugleiches TiBook in die Hände gefallen, dessen Mainboard defekt war. Ohne Furcht machte ich mich dran, in meinem Staubfreien Labor beide defekten Geräte zu einem funktionsfähigem Gerät zu verheiraten.

Es ist soweit, Hell froze over: der Thomas fängt mit Bloggen an. Grund war die Tatsache, dass meine Gallery immer schneller und in verschiedenen Kategorien gleichzeitig wächst. Ich wollte Euch die Möglichkeit geben, immer auf aktuellstem Stand zu sein, auch ohne, dass ich immer eine E-Mail schreiben muss. Deswegen ein Blog mit eingebautem RSS-Feed.
