I’ve been asked numerous times, what equipment we’re using now and then for our tours. After answering the same question patiently over and over, I decided it’d be quite useful to list my mountaineering and climbing equipment (wardrobe and basement ;-). It’s still somewhat selective – while I listed the merino underwear I didn’t list my cotton T-Shirts. While I wear the first exclusively while alpine or ice climbing, I might wear the latter while washing my car. I tried to stick to exclusive climbing/mountaineering – related stuff in this list.
In retrospect I must say, that we’ve collected a lot of stuff already (and aren’t near complete). Nowadays my friends tease me, because I used to say, that you don’t need much for climbing (I admit I was a rather deluded puppy). Of course we don’t take half of it with us on most trips. That’s why I listed the main purpose of each item (bouldering, sport climbing, alpine climbing, ice climbing, expedition). If we have different items for one class (quickdraws f.e.) I only listed one representative.
I can’t check all links regularly, so if you find a broken one, let me know. And don’t be to sensitive with those pictures. While I tried to fetch each manufacturers picture, the second one was taken in live action so to say. They don’t necessarily need to match the listed item, especially if we have several items in one class (I don’t usually take pictures of each equipment item itself).
Enough said! Hope this list is helpful to you.
[Update Jan.2008]
Added a few items like the Gore pants, ice axes, ice screws, the stunning 70-200 lens, also I’ve added/updated some pictures.
[Update Nov.2008]
Added some more Techware (mostly Camera related) and my new link cam set
